Forty Winks Further

Forty Winks Further is a large scale, interactive art installation that will debut at Burning Man in August 2025. In the therapeutic world, we often explore the contents of dreams & the contents of nightmares within the therapy room. Dreams we deem positive or preferential can leave lasting impacts. So can our nightmares. We dream to process the contents of our lives, our past experiences, to allow the brain to organize & store memories, to engage with our emotions, & to rehearse the future. There are some dreams in which we are allowed choice, & dreams where our sleeping bodies are at the mercy of our active brains. Though there is little scientific evidence that suggests that dreams have concrete meanings, we, as a species, have clung to our interpretations of their contents. Dreams, & nightmares, are both a noun & a verb, both a concrete object & an action. As humans, our collective dreams are often remarkably similar at their core, however the nuances of achieving these, or what the end results may look like, presently straddle the border of dream and nightmare. Will we wake up in time?
